Health promotion education groups helps in improving depression, hope and quality of life in dialysis patients.
Hsu SY and team conducted a study to evaluate the effectiveness of health promotion education on dialysis patients experiencing depression, reduced hopeand quality of life.
It was a randomized control trial, which included 40 dialysis patients. The patients were randomized into experimental and control groups. Both the groups received the routine dialysis treatment and nursing care. The experimental group was involved in health promotion education group activities for 90 minutes, twice a week.The effects were determined by analyzing quantitative data of both the groups and qualitative datainthe experimental group.
The result revealed that health promotion education group aided the experimental group patients to adapt the consequences of dialysis and maintain hope for improved quality of life.It has significantly improved the depression, hope, and quality of life in dialysis patients.
The study concluded that implementation of health promotion education group promotes mental health and improves quality of life in dialysis patients by providing the effective information and nursing care.
