University based editing system and writing programs serves as an educational platform for improving scientific writing skills and publishing capacity by providing continuous education in medical writing, editing, publishing, and publication ethics.
Barroga E and team has conducted a study to improve the writing skills and publishing capacity of the writers, by developing the university-based editing system and writing programs.
Editors with a strong medical background and experience in medical research, editing, writing, and publishing were involved in training the academic members. An online system for manuscript submission, highly skilled and experienced team, well-organized work-flow, systemic editing process, filing system, and education materials were the core components for the university-based editing system.
Additionally, building writing programs, which includedmedical writing and editing internships, academic courses, special interactive lectures,seminars, academic visits, medical writing mentoring program, networking programs, and publication resources were helpful in building the scientific skills.
The study concluded that university-based editing system and writing programs enhanced the writing skills and publishing capacity by providing high standard education in medical writing, editing, publishing, and publication ethics.
